Avoid skin contact with the chemicals by using protective gloves or tongs. If you must touch your print while it's in the chemicals, was your hands immediately afterwards.

Also, be aware of any skin or throat irritations. Creams and conscientiousness can ease your discomfort. The darkroom lab recieved a new ventilation system last year.

Keep certain clothes designated as your "darkroom outfit." Not your Ralph Lauren leather pants, but something casual that you can wash frequently to cut back on chemical exposure outside of the lab. Or bring an apron.

Don't eat, smoke, or drink in the darkroom. I understand you're hungry and your ninth attempt at a print has been in fixer for four minutes. If you are going to munch, wash your hands first and snack in the hall.

Store your personal developing and toning chemicals in their original containers. This is to cut down on mix-ups that may damage your print or your health.
